T’Challa Lo!

$15.00

Plantain ice cream with chocolate coffee caramel and plantain chips.

16OZ/Pint size.

T’CHALLA LO! 🐈‍⬛ is inspired by the Marvel superhero and Marvel Studios film, “Black Panther.” In the MCU, the depiction of Wakanda is inspired by the South African kingdom of Lesotho. Some inspiration for this flavour comes from a few recipes from the official Black Panther Wakanda Cookbook, recipes by Malawian-American chef Nyanyika Banda.

The name of this flavour comes from a chant sung during the Warrior Falls scene in Black Panther.
Warrior Falls is ceremonial waterfall grounds where the heir to the Black Panther receives their crowning. They also may be challenged by other tribes for the throne. In the film, the royal family, 4 Wakandan tribes (Border, River, Mining and Merchant), The Dora Milaje, Kingsguard drummers and thousands of Wakandans stand around the falls among the challenge pool, from the bottom to the top, dancing and chanting “Ngu T’Challa Lo!”

T‘Challa, son of King T’Chaka, is the current protector and King of the secret technologically advanced world of Wakanda and wears the mantle of the powerful warrior, the Black Panther. Even though T’Challa has no innate powers, he’s very smart and intelligent, from studying at different universities around the world. It is the Black Panther however, that does wield power.

The host of the Black Panther takes special heart shaped herbs to give them enhanced strength and senses. Vibranium, Wakanda’s greatest natural resource, is featured on the suit that absorbs impact, meaning T’Challa would be less susceptible to attacks like punching and kicking or something more deadly like gunshots. Vibranium in the foot pads also allows for easier landing and climbing. A cat always lands on their feet don’t they?

After T’Chaka was murdered by Ulysses Klaw who was obsessed with Vibranium and had invaded the country to steal it, T’Challa returned home from school to secretly challenge his Uncle S’Yan for the throne. T’Challa succeeded, taking his rightful place as King and as the Black Panther. In the comics, the Black Panther first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 (July 1966).

This flavour is dedicated to Chadwick Boseman and the wonderful work he’s done during his time. An amazing talent to watch on screen. It’s crazy how much his passing hit so many people around the world. A beautiful soul gone too soon, may he rest well in paradise. 🖤
